Emerald Hills is a tool to help the church do missions better. As God provides the resources, let’s honor Him by building a mission campus committed to declaring His glory among the nations. We hope this campus will serve the needs of many future generations of harvest workers. The Emerald Hills campus:
- Mobilizes prayer for the unreached
- Facilitates ministry among the unreached
- Affords our global staff a home base of operations for further equipping, training, networking, and retooling for reconnecting with sending churches, supporters, and International Services
- Provides our U.S. staff with ample facilities to keep pace with the growing number of foreign cross-cultural workers
- Makes better financial sense
We are convinced that building Emerald Hills is crucial for helping us attain the following objectives:
- Connect with the heart of God for the nations
- Enlarge our capacity to obey the Great Commission
- Unite and inspire the growing Team Expansion family with a global vision
- Educate the churches about the unfinished task
- Broaden the sending base and the a harvest force
- Foster a contagious mission community atmosphere
- Provide housing and food for ministry guests
- Host mission events, seminars, and conferences
- Create opportunities for fellowship for God’s people
Emerald Hills is a prayer, retreat and learning center in Metro-Louisville, Kentucky. It consists of 61 rolling acres, many of which are quite green. 2/3 of the land is wooded and all of it is drop-dead gorgeous. From the North Woods, a cedar-lover's delight that at first seems quite inpenetrable, to the Tulip Tree Grove, made up of giant Yellow Poplars and other massive deciduous champions, the property defies its location in southeastern Metro-Louisville. By the time one walks all the way back to the Tall Timber Forest, one can scarecely imagine he/she is trekking in the 16th-largest city in the USA.
The property actually belongs to TELL Services, a Kentucky Limited Liability Corporation (LLC). Established in 2003 for the express purpose of purchasing and managing the real estate transaction and property ownership issues, TELL Services has, as its sole entity, the 501(c)3 incorporation known as <Team Expansion>. Because Team Expansion is the sole member entity, TELL Services takes on the same tax-exempt status as its owner, by the laws of the state of Kentucky.
In addition to Team Expansion, another entity due to locate at Emerald Hills is <Brigada>. Since January, 1995, Brigada Today has informed thousands of readers each week about missions mobilization, conferences, seminars, resources, tools, software, and more. Currently, some 10,000 readers take part in the Brigada movement each week. All the editing, compiling, and information-sharing will be based out of the World Harvest Center at Emerald Hills. The Editor/Compiler of Brigada Today, Doug Lucas, is founder and President of Team Expansion. As one of the largest missions organization in the Christian Churches, Team Expansion itself traces its roots back to a small prayer meeting in a college dorm room in eastern Kentucky in the fall of 1978. The agency now calls Louisville its home. After residing in an old church house situated at 3700 Hopewell Road just 7 minutes from Emerald Hills for twelve years, they made the move to Emerald Hills in March 2009. Phase I is completed - The Prayer Center & Atrium.
After a thorough study of the organization's fast-paced growth, Team Expansion's Leadership Task Force (board of directors) mandated a property search in January, 2000. Just over 3 years later, in March 2003, with input from many advisors and with the help of First Capital Bank (Louisville, KY), the organization purchased a large farm with the hope of launching a lasting legacy for the organzation's missionaries, their families, partner churches, and future generations. Thanks to an innovative strategy that involved selling portions of the farm as homebuilding lots. Some 16 months later, the entire transaction was finished, leaving Team Expansion with 61 acres free and clear. God be praised for the great advisors, consultants, and partners that made Emerald Hills (the land) possible. Now the organization is involved in the next stage -- building the campus. Your help is needed -- to pray, give, and volunteer -- to help bring about the eventual dream of a missions campus, teaming with energy from those who come here to pray, retreat and learn. And may God receive all the glory.
